How Magnets and Copper Work Together & Why It Matters

Windmills, alternators, generators, motors all have to do with how magnets interact with copper. So understanding what magnets do to copper is important. It’s important in design (material selection and space utilization) as well as in how to maximize performance (power output).

In this video, George Mizzell, the SuperMagnetMan, uses a variety of tools to illustrate the physics behind what is happening, which helps us understand some of the more complex aspects of magnets. Not only is this video helpful and educating but it’s very well done and interesting. You’ll learn about the magnetic field through the lens of a gauss meter, multimeter and an oscilloscope. And you’ll answer the following questions:

  • Does the gauge of copper wire affect power output?
  • What about air? How does the air gap influence the amount of energy that is created?
  • How does changing the magnet material affect power output across the coil of wire?

How Magnets & Copper Work Together

“Everywhere we look today, there are thousands and thousands of devices that are using magnets and cooper to make power, to produce things, to make things spin, to make things vibrate. Everything around you today in tools…uses these magnets in a very special way. This helps you understand how they work together.” Consider subscribing to George’s blog by clicking here.
